I want to start by saying that I really enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire, and I’m okay with it winning “Best Picture” last night at the Oscars. Unfortunately, however, I think the movie is suffering from way too much hype right now – I mean, it wasn’t that amazing. Very cool, very different in a lot of ways, but not EIGHT FREAKING OSCARS cool and different. Come on. After all, Wall-E was a much better movie than Slumdog.
Congratulations to Pixar for their “Best Animated Film” win last night, but you deserved more. In my HUMBLE opinion, Presto should have won “Best Animated Short”. It was fantastic! And Wall-E should have won “Best Song”, “Best Score”, “Best Sound Mixing”, “Best Sound Editing” (EVERY SINGLE SOUND in the film had to be created from scratch!), and “Best Original Screenplay” (Well, alright, I haven’t seen Milk yet…).
All in all, I loved the show last night. It was really cool having past award winners present the nominees with a bit of praise before the big announcement. I also enjoyed Jack Black’s jab at Dreamworks animation. Heh.
Now, a complaint: why the hell were the stars of High School Musical there? And another: why does the Academy seem to be so against Pixar winning awards that it obviously deserves? It’s just like how Colie Gumdrops has something against finishing boardgames. Seriously, WTF?!?!?!!
I got a FlipHD the other day, and it’s pretty sweet! I finally took my first video tonight, which features my sister’s friend Leah planning her next move. Take a look (and pick up a Flip – they’re not that expensive!):
I will defend to the death my hotbogder creation’s rightful place as the world’s greatest burger, but I think this one comes in at a close second. Now, I’ve tried peanut butter on a bacon cheeseburger. I’ve eaten ginormous one-pound burgers. I’ve even had a hot dog wrapped in a slice of pepperoni pizza once (delicious)! But I’ve never…NEVER…been this ambitious with any food challenge.
Let me know when you’re ready to try this with me. Or are you going to wuss out again like you did with the Wingdom Challenge?
I’ve been having an effing blast the past few weeks watching auditions and Hollywood week on American Idol, and thank the lord it’s finally time for us Americans to call the shots. Woohoo! Of course, after last night’s performance of “Hero”, Danny was a shoe-in for the top 12 – he’s without a doubt the only one I would have voted for (though I should have called in for Anoop, now that I think about it…). That said, I would never have predicted that Alexis and Michael would have rounded out the picks for the week though, that was quite the surprise and put me in at 1 for 3 in my picks for the week.
You know, I have to say that as obnoxious as Tatiana was (and how freakin’ strange she was acting this week), I thought she would get voted through based on the fact that she kinda can sing well, and her silly antics were provided for some laughs. Hell, they voted Sanjaya through a few seasons ago, we need another awkward nutjob in the mix this season! And how about Anoop Dogg losing out to Michael? I swear I’ll renounce my title as Idol Master if he doesn’t get a wildcard spot.
So the Inkwaste American Idol Pool is a few weeks away from challenging my friends and family with the task of forseeing the next winner. There’s a mini-pool going on right now that I’m going to build a website for soon (which will become the site for the main pool as soon as the final 12 are picked), so keep an eye out for that.
On a related note (in that I’m about to talk about another tv show that’s on Wednesdays) I gotta say that this is one of the best seasons of LOST ever! Time travel? Returning to the Island? Eff yeah! I just wish I could watch them all in a row like I did for season 1 (even though it means not leaving the couch for those 20 or so hours…). I really can’t wait for next week’s episode detailing the antics of Locke on the mainland! Oh yeah, and Battlestar Galactica is kicking ass as well!
Alright amigos, I’m off to bed. Remember that next week Idol is on Wednesday and Thursday…stay tuned for more of my amazing (but usually wrong) picks for the top 12!
It’s about time. I knew it was only a matter of spending enough money, enjoying enough rides and eating enough Bengal BBQ before Disneyland would honor my 12-02 birthday with the celebration it deserved. Thanks to everyone who made it, here is the newscast that they played the week before my 29th birthday celebration at the Happiest Place on Earth!
At the movie theater, about to see The Love Guru, two girls behind me were having a conversation. An ad came up on the screen for that vaccine that’s supposed to prevent the disease that causes cervical cancer. This greatly confused the two teen girls.
Girl 1: What’s cervical cancer?
Girl 2: Duh, it’s cancer of your cervical.
Yesterday at the airport I was waiting to board my flight while the departing passengers exited the plane. One guy was on his phone, walking fast and talking loud.
Dude on the phone: So you finally bought a porn with a plot? What did you think?
Adios Tucson, you oppressively hot beast of burden. Hello New York, you oppressively humid and hot surly wench. We have two chess events on the East Coast within the next week, and you all know how much I love chess. Once again we’re teaming up with WuChess and the RZA to prevent teen pregnancy by teaching kids how cool it is to play chess after school instead of…well…you know. I’m an expert in this area. After all, I’ve played chess more times in the past 6 months than…yeah…you get the idea. So armed with an intense love of board games and a strong desire to get the heck out of T-Town, I bid my friends in Tucson adieu as I fly cross country for king and queen (the chess pieces, get it?)!
